You may be wondering…. what is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a type of natural therapy often described as hands-on healing in which a practitioner places their hands lightly on or over a client’s body to facilitate the client’s process of energy healing.
The word reiki in Japanese means ‘spiritual energy’ or ‘universal life force energy’.
Reiki flows through the practitioners hands. There’s no pressure or massage. The energy flows into the recipient and helps to balance, heal and harmonise body, mind and spirit.
People turn to a reiki treatment for all sorts of reasons eg. Stress relief, anxiety, healing physical and/or emotional issues. Some clients book in just because they want to try it or to get a tune up – they feel good but want to feel great. Reiki has a way of coming into your life for often reasons unknown so the fact that you are here reading this is a good sign.

Reiki can do no harm to the client – the worst thing it can do is nothing.
HISTORY OF REIKI
Reiki was founded in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Dr. Mikao Usui. It was said that his family practiced Zen Buddhism for 11 generations. As a result, Mikao had a deep fascination with the art of healing.

After a near death experience, Mikao travelled throughout Japan talking to various respected Buddhist teachers and priests. Mikao became intrigued by Buddha through his study, as it was said that the Buddha was able to heal physical illness and could also pass down the gift to others.
With this knowledge Mikao decided he would go to the top of Mount Koriyama (a sacred mountain) where he fasted and meditated for 21 days. To keep track of his time on the mountain, he set up 21 stones and as each meditative day passed, he threw one away. On the morning of the 21st day, Dr. Usui experienced an event that would change his life forever. He saw ancient Sanskrit symbols and received an attunement that helped him develop the system of healing named Usui Reiki.
After this spiritual awakening on Mount Kurama, Dr. Usui established a clinic for healing and teaching in Kyoto. As the practice of Usui Reiki was spreading, Dr. Usui became known for his healing practice.

Reiki works by balancing the Chakras to bring your energetic body back into alignment. Reiki encourages personal and spiritual awareness and growth.
